Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know.

Absolutely not. They are statistical tools for educational purposes, based on public peer-reviewed equations. Diagnosis, prescription and treatment are exclusively the responsibility of your doctor or specialist.
No. All calculations run in JavaScript in your browser. No health parameter (age, weight, BP, cholesterol, eGFR...) is ever sent to our servers. With your consent, we only record an anonymous slug (e.g. "bmi") to count usage, without IP or any identifying data.
ASCVD (AHA/ACC 2013) uses Pooled Cohort Equations calibrated for the US population, includes ethnicity and an eGFR/CKD modifier. SCORE2 (ESC 2021) is a Cox PH model calibrated for 4 European geographic risk areas, uses Non-HDL cholesterol and includes the nephrological factor (CKD/eGFR) as a risk modifier.
Yes. In the SCORE2 model the eGFR field is factored in. With CKD G3a-G5, risk is multiplied by ESC 2021/2023 factors (from 1.5x for G3a to 5.0x for G5/dialysis), with a 20% floor for dialysis patients.
